Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel, and jazz into his signature style. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway up to the Democratic National Convention to the European music scene and the club scenes. Sunshine's given title is Denise White. While she now lives in Atlanta she was born in Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical experience began at the church where she sang and played piano. Her musical career began in Atlanta while attending Spellman College. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released only in Japan; it was later remixed by a variety of producers and has become an essential part of her live set. The Fighting Temptations was the second soundtrack that she sang on. In 2005, Tyler Perry hired her as his primary keyboardist for his stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 to serve as the Choral Director for Dreamgirls which was a stage production in Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine came to national attention during four daily shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
